First Timers
We are a laid back gym with a diverse group of folks coming together to support each other’s goals. The culture is friendly, welcoming, and patient.
If you are brand new to Nogi Jiu Jitsu, you’ll be partnered with an experienced practice partner for the whole class who will answer questions, and help you get oriented.
If you are an experienced grappler, you’ll find it easy to jump in and participate fully.

Class Structure
Classes are one hour long. Both youth and adults engage in active learning with most of the time spent working with a partner. Adults have an open mat after every class. The time can be used to spar, work specific aspects of grappling, and get help from coaches and other students.
Please reach out if you have questions or would like to share feedback after your first class.
Uniform Guidelines
Tops for Males & Females:
Shirt that covers your shoulders, armpits, and torso all the way to the waistband of your shorts or spats. Grappling rashguards made of elastic material are recommended because they are made to fit tight, have some stretch, and can be tucked in.
Long or short-sleeve tops are acceptable.
Bottoms for Females & Males:
No pockets or have the pockets stitched completely shut.
No buttons, zippers, or any kind of plastic or metal.
Squat-proof leggings (aka grappling spats). Shorts that don’t expose your glutes.
Protective Gear:
Mouthguards are required for students with braces on their teeth.
Soft headgear and braces with no hard plastic is allowed.
